UGC Playbook

An 18-year-old with no company generated 100 million views for Cluely in two weeks. Dillion Verma went from zero to $300K/month in 45 days. Two ex-Loom employees built a $6.7M/year business with no funding. None of them ran ads — they all ran the same UGC system. This is that system, mapped end to end.

The Math Comes First

UGC gets described as a creative phenomenon — find the right format, make it feel authentic, post enough. That framing is wrong. UGC is a math phenomenon, and the math version is more useful because it tells you exactly which variable to fix when things stall. Dillion Verma reduced the whole model to two equations: revenue equals total views times conversion rate, and total views equals creators × videos per creator × posts per video × views per post. When he went from zero to $300K/month in 45 days, he wasn't doing something unrepeatable — he was maximizing every variable simultaneously.

Views decompose further: creators × videos each × platforms × views per post. Fix the broken factor, not the category.

  • Every variable in the views equation is controllable: add creators, raise cadence, cross-post, improve the format.
  • Conversion is set in the first three seconds — the hook decides which type of person is still watching.
  • Low install rate after click usually means the wrong people clicked: the video performed, the targeting failed.
  • The format isn't separate from the funnel. It is the first step of the funnel.
